John Byram, Au.D., Founder, President & Treasurer
I was raised in Connecticut and spent much of my adulthood and professional life there. I received my Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Connecticut and worked for a nonprofit audiology clinic for several years. My focus in audiology is pediatrics and hearing conservation. Since 2018, I’ve shifted from my audiology practice to becoming a full-time stay at home dad, raising our growing family. My wife Alice and I moved with our kids from the Boston area to Bath, Maine in 2021.
When I’m not pushing strollers around Bath, or building LEGO creations with my kids, I am an avid cyclist, a member of NEMBA, a hobby woodworker, and thoroughly enjoy creating delicious meals in the kitchen (or pizza oven) for friends, family and neighbors.
I founded Bath at Play because I have experienced first-hand how community playgrounds and green spaces can positively impact a community. I met many of my closest friends, including my fellow director and stay at home dad Adam, in one of these community spaces. I believe there are many communities that could benefit from outdoor spaces. These spaces can help foster and nourish lifelong friendships while also providing an environment critical to cognitive and physical development for kids. I hope that Bath at Play can be a platform for communities across Maine to see development of more kid friendly community spaces!
