Riverwalk Rhythm Unveiling and Dedication, May 18, 2024

Hello Friends of Bath at Play,

Thank you to all the friends and families that came out to show support of the Riverwalk Rhythm installation on May 18th. We had well over 100 people in attendance, despite the wet and dreary weather. Thanks to the generous outpouring of support at the dedication and in the weeks since, we have exceeded our initial fundraising goal and have raised $10,347 for this project. We plan to advocate for further expansion of this installation and will continue to raise funds for more instruments after the one year trial period. Thank you for supporting us and making our first project a grand success!

Our Heritage Games return July 5th!

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Heritage Days July 4th celebration put on by Main Street Bath. Our Heritage Games returns for its second year on Kids’ Day, Friday July 5th from 10AM to 1PM. If you joined us last year, you saw first hand how much fun we had on the lawn of Library Park. We hope you can join us this year. Our schedule will be much the same with classic lawn competitions and a no-hands whoopie pie eating contest. There will be prizes and ribbons for competitors. Check out our event webpage to see this year’s sponsors and a schedule of events! If you would like to volunteer and be part of the fun, please reach out to us at info@bathatplay.org.

CASTING CALL: Join the Bath at Play Leadership Team

Bath at Play is looking to expand our leadership perspectives and expertise! We are looking for additional parent/grandparent/caregiver/community member perspectives to help us steer Bath at Play into new opportunities for Play in Bath and the greater Midcoast region. If you or someone you know might be interested, please email John at jbyram@bathatplay.org.

Project Updates

Huse School/Chicken Playground: The trees that were transplanted last fall are doing well and establishing themselves in their new spots! Thank you to the supporters who alerted us to the trees that fell in the winter wind storms. They have all been staked to prevent further wind damage. We are currently looking into the available options for the surfacing, accessibility and shade phases of our revitalization in hopes to find an economic solution for these improvement opportunities.

KELT LOCAL Garden: Bath at Play has been working with the crew at Kennebec Estuary Land Trust (KELT) on bringing creative play to their LOCAL Garden, located at the corner of Lemont Street and High Street in South Bath. Stay tuned as this project develops!

City of Ships Community Playground: Many have asked where we are with the project that led to our founding. We remain dedicated to advocating for this additional amenity for the community of Bath. On these hot days we are also reminded that a cooling water feature is an essential component of this project and know that it will be included in our future plans. The hurdle that this project faces now is location. Finding a suitable and preferably central location for this project must happen before we can move ahead.

Please visit our projects webpage to read more about each of our projects.
