The City of Ships Community Playground
Project Scope: City of Ships Community Playground
This project, the City of Ships Community Playground, a.k.a. the ‘Bath Boat Park,’ started in December 2021 as an idea of a way to give back to the amazing community of Bath, Maine through the funding of a new community playground. The project, our community survey, and the overwhelming support the idea garnered within the community were the primary driving forces behind the creation of Bath at Play.
Bath Maine is known as “The City of Ships” given its longstanding history of ship building. We felt that it was most fitting that a new playground be nautically themed so that the children in and around the City of Bath and Midcoast Maine could play in the rich history of this little city.
Where We Are:
Since before our formation, Bath at Play’s President, John, has been proposing locations for this signature playground and learning of the limitations of the green spaces in Bath for such a project.
We continue to look for a suitable location which promotes dynamic and inclusive play, that is located within walking distance to the small businesses that make up downtown Bath.
